How to send a client a website preview without making them create an account
By PreviewSend Team · Nov 4, 2026 · 3 min read

The build is ready and you want the client's opinion. The usual next move is the one that slows everything down: a ZIP in an email, a screen recording, or an invite to a tool the client has never heard of.
Most clients will not create an account to look at a draft. They are busy, they have no reason to learn your tool, and a sign-up screen reads as extra work. Whatever you send has to open on the first click and let them say what they think right there.
What a good client review link does
- It opens in a browser on a phone or laptop with nothing to install.
- It needs no sign-up from the client.
- It lets them point at the thing they mean, instead of describing it in an email.
- It keeps the same address when you change the site, so the link they already have is never stale.
The steps
- Get the site online as one link. If you have a ZIP or a build folder, host the ZIP as a website and keep that URL. If the entry file is the problem, fix the index.html error first.
- Decide who can open it. For routine work an unlisted link is fine. If the work is unpublished, add a password. A password is the real gate, an unlisted link is not.
- Turn on client review for the project, then send the link with one sentence: press Add comment in the review bar, then click the spot you mean. They are only asked for a name, no account needed.
- Collect the comments in one place. They are tied to the version the client looked at, so you can tell which round a note belongs to.
- Fix, rebuild and upload the new version to the same project. The link does not change, so tell the client to reload the same address. Updating without changing the URL covers it.
A message you can paste
Here is the latest version: [link]. Press Add comment in the review bar, then click the spot you mean. You only need to give your name, not an account. I will update the same link after your feedback, so just reload it.
What to watch for
- Do not send a new link every round. Clients keep the old one and review stale work. See how to share a website preview with a client for the full handoff.
- If the preview should not sit around forever, set it to expire.
- Comments on an old version stay with that version. When you upload a new one, ask the client to look again rather than assuming they saw it.

FAQ
Does my client need an account to open the preview?
No. The link opens for anyone you send it to. If you set a project password they enter it when they open the link, and it stays unlocked for a while (8 hours). The account is on your side, for uploading and managing the project.
Can my client leave comments without signing up?
Yes. On PreviewSend a client can pin comments or request changes on the page itself without creating an account, and each note is tied to the version they viewed.
What if I update the site after they comment?
Upload the revised build as a new version of the same project. The link stays the same and shows the latest version. Earlier versions stay in version history within your plan retention.
Is a link with no login private?
An unlisted link is not access control. Anyone who has the link can open it. If the work is unpublished or sensitive, add a project password, which is the actual gate.
